The typeface name is "Amabile". It means "lovely" in music terms.

書体名は「Amabile（アマービレ）」。音楽用語で「愛らしく」という意味があります。
■Characteristics of Amabile
The design feature reflects the feature of Japanese typeface "Waon", as the depending latin characters of which this typeface is designed. Motif of quarter note "Amabile" briefly expresses the "basic concept of Waon, to express a music with typeface". Firstly we started designing [d] and [p] for the basis of the feature of quarter note with slant oblong. Then we derived the form of other characters with this basic design. Latin characters, especially the lower case ones, have an arc for their basic form. We made the most of them and designed the plesurable mood with large counter. Separating parts those properly are joined Almost all of the characters in "Waon" have a feture that the part of the character is separated intentionally. "Amabile" have this feature too. This design feature produces an effect like a staccato in music note over the composition of letters. Ending line with a gentle curve Following the feature of "Waon", "Amabile" also have the feature that the stems and strokes in the ending line expresses the trajectory of the tact that the conductor swung down. This gentle curve is a feature not found in other typefaces, and mellowness is added to letters, and when assembled, unique lightness like operetta is born. Tall X-height The sans serif typeface is generally designed with a tall X-height. As a result, one letter is bigger and the contemporary atmosphere becomes stronger than the serif typeface. "Amabile" further raises the X-height, there is not much difference between uppercase and lowercase letters. By designing a lowercase arc a little more strongly, we express fun and loveliness. Uppercase letters those dare to break theory We dare to sway the centeroid of the upper case characters. For example "A". We shifted the position of the apex (top pointed tip) to the right greatly. At first glance this design feature leads to misunderstand that the character is italic form. We made the biggest adventure with the first letter. In addition to that, we set the position of the center of gravity of the character with the two-story structure to the opposite position ("H", "K", "P", "R, "X", "Y"), or the upper and lower contrast to the extreme ("B", "E", "F", "G", "S") so that we can make a bigger rhythm. More character types The non-Japanese characters in the Japanese font are basically composed with Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek. In addition to these 3 types of characters, "Amabile" have the capability of 87 languages by extending character types so called "W1G", which consists of Latin supplements, Cyrillic supplements, Greek supplements, Latin extensions.
■Amabile の特長
「和音」の従属欧文として制作された性格上、当然ながら「和音」の特長を反映したデザインになっています。 四分音符をモチーフ 「和音」の基本コンセプトである「文字で音楽を表現する」を、最も端的に文字通り「表現」しているのがこの「Amabile」です。 楕円形を斜めに配した四分音符をイメージし、最初に小文字の [d] [p] を基本形としてデザイン。これをもとに他の文字種のフォルムを派生させていきました。欧文の、特に小文字は円弧が基本形にあるため、それを最大限に活かし、ふところの深い楽しい雰囲気の文字に仕上げました。 本来交わる部分を離す 「和音」はほとんどすべての文字のどこか１か所が切れて離れたデザインになっています。したがって、「Amabile」もそれを踏襲しています。この措置が、組んだときにスタッカートのようなアクセント豊かな効果を生んでいきます。 ゆるやかなカーブを描く収筆 これも「和音」の特長を踏襲しています。収筆（筆順の最後）のステム（縦画）、ストローク（斜画）に、指揮者が振り下ろすタクトの軌跡を表現しました。このゆるやかなカーブは他の書体にない特徴で、文字にまろやかさが加わり、組んだときに、まるでオペレッタのような独特の軽やかさが生まれます。 背の高いエクスハイト サンセリフ書体は、一般的にエクスハイトが高めにデザインされています。それにより一文字ひともじが大きめになり、セリフ書体と比べて、現代的な雰囲気が強くなります。 「Amabile」は、さらにエクスハイトを高めにし、大文字と小文字の差があまりありません。小文字の円弧をより強めにデザインすることで、楽しさ愛らしさを表現しました。 あえてセオリーを崩した大文字 文字の重心をあえて崩した作りになっています。たとえば [A]。アぺクス（上部の尖がったところ）の位置を大幅に右にずらしました。一見すると「イタリック？」と勘違いします。最初の文字で最大の冒険をしました。 そのほかにも、上下２段の構造を持った文字の重心を、本来とは逆の位置 [H] [K] [P] [R] [X] [Y] 、もしくは上下のコントラストを極端 [B] [E] [F] [G] [S] にし、より大きなリズムを刻めるようにしました。 文字種をより充実 ほとんどの和文書体の従属欧文は Latin, Cyrillic, Greek の３種類が基本です。「Amabile」はこの３種類に Latin 補助、Cyrillic 補助、Greek 補助、Latin 拡張などを加えた、いわゆるW1Gの規格にプラスアルファし、87か国言語を表現できる多言語フォントに生まれ変わりました。 グリフ形状は、比較的自由にデザイン表現が可能な Latin 以外は「Amabile」の特徴を残しつつ、ネイティブの形状を壊さない、ぎりぎりの選択を施してあります。
