*These 3D .stl files were designed for combining with other meshes of existing 3D print miniatures rather than as standalone items! They have been pre-sized to be compatible with most standard 28mm-30mm tabletop miniatures. Gat 갓 - Korean Gat. Gat "Gaht" are a traditional Korean hat made from horse hair and varied in shape and style throughout the years. Many gat were thin enough to allow one to see the sangtu top knot on one's head, and this lightness allowed for a design that could block out the sun but still provide breathability for the wearer. While not required, a manggeon is typically worn under a gat. Attaching a gat to one's head despite its shape are a set of straps sometimes accompanied by jade and amber beads, which also featured on many other Korean hats. Manggeon 망건 - Horse Hair Headband. Manggeon headbands are a sophisticated step up from a typical headband. They feature a thin rectangular section at the front and are tied in the back to two gwanja beads on the sides, and sometimes even one's sangtu. Jeonmo전모 - Korean Jeonmo. A jeonmo is lavishly decorated and built on an elevated wood or bamboo framework underneath from where it is secured to one's head or a gache wig. These extravagent hats are a favorite amongst gisaeng courtesans, of whom many paintings feature this iconic headwear. Jeollip 전립 - Korean Jeollip. Jeollip are a sign of rank and authority, worn by both civil and military officials and by satto district magistrates. They display a bright colored tassel attached to a metal pin at the top of the hat, and typically have a peacock or pheasant feather adorning them which are sometimes dyed red, giving off the impression of a bonghwang feather. Jurip 주립 - Korean Jurip. Jurip are red gat with feathers, typically from a pheasant, attached to the sides of the brim, and often feature straps and beads similar to a jeollip hat. These are often worn by military officials and are also a common vestment used by mudang shamans during a gut ritual. Satgat 삿갓 - Korean Straw Gat. Satgat have a unique design with a wavy brim. While anyone can wear one, they are commonly associated with traveling monks. *These models are free to download and free to add to your own miniatures!
