放電加工機とは
放電加工機は、電気の放電を利用して金属を加工する機械です。通常の切削加工では難しい硬い金属や複雑な形状の加工が可能です。加工の際には電極と加工物の間に電圧をかけ、放電による高温で金属を溶かして形を作ります。放電のときに回りに空気があると電極が焼損してしまうため、通常は加工物を溶液に浸して使います。工場用の放電加工機では専用の油を使いますが、廃液の処理を考えると、家庭では純水を使います（当製品は純水以外での動作を確認しておらず保証できかねます）。油と純水の違いはμmオーダーの放電ギャップの違いであり、仕上がりには殆ど影響しません。 Electric discharge machine (EDM) is a device that processes metal using electrical discharges. It can handle hard metals and complex shapes that are difficult to machine with conventional cutting methods. During processing, voltage is applied between the electrode and the workpiece, melting the metal with the high temperature generated by the discharge. Since air surrounding the electrode during discharge can cause electrode damage, the workpiece is typically submerged in a liquid. Industrial EDM machines use specialized oil, but for home use, purified water is preferred due to waste disposal considerations (this product has only been tested with purified water, and functionality with other liquids is not guaranteed). The difference between oil and purified water lies in the micrometer-order discharge gap, which has little effect on the final finish.
