This month’s theme is moon viewing (お月見, otsukimi)🎑

Mid-autumn, the heart of fall, brings the clearest skies and the most beautiful moon. That’s why the fifteenth night of the eighth lunar month — known as the Mid-Autumn Full Moon — became the traditional time for moon viewing. (This year, the full moon actually falls on October 6th.) During moon viewing, we offer tsukimi dango (moon-viewing rice dumplings) to show our thanks for the year’s harvest and to pray for future abundance. After admiring the moon, everyone enjoys eating the dumplings together while expressing gratitude to the moon. Just be careful — dumpling thieves may be lurking nearby🛸
