Kannawa Onsen in Beppu, Japan, is a geothermal settlement permanently covered in volcanic steam. Within this dense vapor environment, local organisms have developed unusual survival behaviors: humans cook with natural steam vents, cats occupy warm pipe systems, and visibility drops to only a few meters during peak atmospheric activity. This publication documents one ordinary day inside the zone.
