Poiyomi Shaders are used in the preview, there is a mild issue with random back-culling, that for whatever reason, is entirely shader-based. I couldn't find a real reason for this, but using Poi seems to work, as it has a culling option inside the shader. This is all in spite the fact the FBX inside blender does not use back culling anywhere.
