作品解説
この豆色紙は、あえて龍に瞳を入れず全体にも余白を残して描いています。 これによって、「画竜点睛」の故事から、願掛け、大願成就のお守りとして使っていただくことをテーマにした作品です。 だるまと同じように願いを掛けて片目を描き入れていただき、その願いがかなった時に両目を描き入れていただくことで龍に願掛けをする小さなお守りとしてお持ちいただけます。 お手に取っていただいた方にあとから色や線を自由に足していただいても全く構いません。 それがあなたの感性や願いを象徴するものになれば幸いです。 もちろんお好みで、あえてそれをせずに飾っていただくことも可能です。 その場合には不完全である、未完成である事を象徴的に描いた作品として飾っていただいても面白いかと思います。 不完全であるがゆえに、不変である。 完成されることがないから、変化し朽ちることがない。 そんな解釈もできるのではないかと。

Ryu Matsuri – “Drawing the Finishing Touch, Cloud Dragon” (Mini Shikishi)
Artwork Notes
This miniature shikishi is intentionally drawn without the dragon’s pupils and with a generous use of empty space. Inspired by the Chinese idiom “painting the dragon’s finishing touch” (which refers to adding the pupil at the end), this work is meant to be used as a small talisman for wishes and personal prayers. Like a daruma doll, you may draw in one eye when you make a wish, and complete the other eye when your wish comes true. In this way, you complete the dragon yourself, and the artwork becomes a part of your personal ritual. You are welcome to add your own colors or lines afterward. If that process reflects your feelings or intentions, then it has already become your own “dragon.” Of course, you may also display it just as it is. Leaving the eyes blank and the dragon “unfinished” can symbolize permanence, continuity, and change without decay. Something that never “finishes” may never “fade.” That, too, can be a way to interpret this little piece.
