P.I.M.P. Seam Normalizer is a Blender add-on built to eliminate modular boundary seam tearing, shading discontinuities, and normal interpolation mismatches in a single click. If you build modular characters, armor sets, or segmented assets, you already know the pain of visible seams splitting apart under lighting or tearing during animation. This tool automates the heavy lifting using Blender's native C++ data architecture and BMesh topology tools to keep your assets clean and production-ready. I did have some AI assistance with writing this addon but i have experience with code was working this pipeline my self and have vigorously trial tested this addons functions and error checked any scenarios i could think of. What P.I.M.P. Seam Normalizer Does: Equalizes Seam Border Vertices: Matches and equalizes border vertex counts between separate modular parts to establish a clean topological foundation for normal data transfer. Transfers Custom Normals via Data Transfer: Projects surface shading data smoothly across modular boundaries using Blender's high-speed C++ modifier stack so seams completely disappear under lighting. Protects Shape-Keys & Blendshapes: Snapshots facial and body morph targets before running operations and re-projects deltas via barycentric triangle interpolation so rigs and expressions remain intact. Synchronizes Skinning Weights: Averages and normalizes vertex weights across matched seam vertices to prevent modular clothing and skin from tearing apart during extreme joint articulation. Automates Cleanup & Safety: Pre-scrubs stacked duplicate vertices (0.0002 threshold) and isolates backups into hidden collections with a full Undo operator that restores original meshes instantly. What P.I.M.P. Seam Normalizer DOES NOT Do: Does NOT Remesh Characters: It leaves your existing mesh topology, edge flow, and subdivision levels completely untouched. Does NOT Rig Characters: It does not generate armatures, create bone chains, or bind skeletons to your mesh. Does NOT Clean Up Stacked Geometry Triangles: It handles individual duplicate vertex welding during pre-scrubbing, but it will not automatically retopologize or rebuild messy, overlapping, or intersecting interior geometry. Does NOT Fit or Snapped Pieces Together: It does not move, scale, or conform separate 3D mesh islands to physically touch each other in 3D space—your modular pieces must already be modeled to align and meet cleanly. Version & Compatibility Current Version: v1.0 Blender Compatibility: Blender 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3+ Dependencies: None (uses pure native Blender C++ modules, bpy, and bmesh) License: StandardRoyalty / Open-Source Compatible (Free for personal and commercial studio projects) Install by adding to the preferences/addons in blender
