---------------------------------------------- BUNNY the MOSQUITO SLAYER 1:12 scale Height : 19.5cm Number of parts : 49 Includes nylon mesh & PVC sheet ■About In Taipei, Taiwan, there is an area known as Linsen North Road. During the Japanese era, it was called Taisho-cho, an upscale residential district for mainland Japanese. After the war, Chinese nationals affiliated with the Kuomintang, who had been driven out of the mainland during the Chinese Civil War, flowed into the area, and it eventually became an entertainment district. Today, the area is lined with many Japanese-style izakaya and snack bars, and it is well known as a gathering place for Japanese expatriates and business travelers. At its peak in the 1980s, there were said to be as many as 300 Japanese-style snack bars in the area, but with Japan’s decline, that number has fallen to around 30. Even during my own posting there, closures and shifts to other business models (such as girls’ bars or concept cafés) followed one after another, leaving the scene on the brink of extinction. The atmosphere of Japanese-style snack bars at their height in the 1980s was depicted in the Netflix drama “Light the Night”, which also became a topic of conversation in Taiwan. It even led to locally organized “Japanese snack bar tours.” If you’re interested, watching the series may help spark your imagination. Now then, on one corner of Linsen North Road, there is a certain bar. It is neither a girls’ bar nor a concept café, and it isn’t even aimed at Japanese customers. However, by the owner’s personal taste, a single girl works there wearing a bunny suit. At the same time, she also uses the bar as a private venue for her regular clients. Unfortunately, countless mosquitoes swarm inside the bar. The girl—an experienced mosquito slayer herself—keeps an electric insect-zapping racket at her side at all times, watching closely for any approaching pests. This project expands upon that story, which is about 87% nonfiction. However, the original starting point wasn’t the bunny suit or the mosquitoes, but rather the varsity jacket the girl is wearing. That jacket is exactly the same one I produced in 2025 as winter wear for events for our group, “Futenetai.” In other words, while attending Wonder Festival and waiting—almost half a century—for a breathtakingly beautiful girl to appear wearing cosplay of one of our figures, that reality never came to pass. So instead, I carried out a somewhat wistful project: having my figure wear cosplay of us. Why was the aforementioned girl chosen here? Because when designing that varsity jacket, I sought her advice. Yes—the girl mentioned earlier was not imaginary, but a real person. She was the one who decided the color scheme of the patches on the back. Ideally, I would have liked to bring the finished jacket to Taiwan, have her wear it, and even take a photo or two. Unfortunately, during the jacket’s production, an oversight caused my contact information to lapse. Along with many Taiwanese acquaintances, I lost contact with her as well. Her social media became inactive, the bar closed, and she disappeared without a trace. As of 2026, Linsen carries an air of decline, yet remains filled with simple, human warmth. She is probably no longer there, and has likely risen into the glittering world of wealth that she once dreamed about back then. That is the lyrical background behind this work. Returning now to the real world: as part of the example build, I include PVC sheets and nylon mesh as electrode parts for the rackets. In addition, the racket and the signboard are designed to accommodate separately sold LED units, allowing them to be illuminated. As noted in the precautions below, the included signboard is the “窮村民” version, not “bouderie.” I’ve written about the background on X, so if you feel inclined, I’d appreciate it if you’d give it a read. ■Notes - This product requires assembly and painting. - The parts of this product are made with resin casting.
