※4~6枚目は参考画像であり、この商品には含まれません。 （商品紹介） 1969年、U.S.Steel社がハガキを送ると無料で配布されていた企業ブローシャー。 INTERFACE (a portfolios of possibilities)には３つのファイルにそれぞれ６種づつ 全部で１８枚の変倍のポスターが封入されていました。それはシド・ミードが数あるU.S.Steelのシリーズで一番最期に手掛け、およそ一ヶ月という短期間で仕上げたイラスト集です。 2019年のシド・ミード展で特別グッズとして、個人蔵のコレクションを基にこの[INTERFSACE]をポストカードにし、彩度やコントラストを若干強調した補正を施し、 短冊のブック形式にしたのが最後の画像です。局地的な環境で活躍するヴィークルを描くのをメインテーマに据えた中でもこの「FEEDBACK」と題された「歩くトラック」は北極限に向かって雪原を行軍する４本脚のトラックです。 今回は、初の２枚構成としました。完成イラストと、その制作過程で出発点となったアイディアスケッチかつ、彩色用のトレース画を透明なセル画で再現しました。1969年当時、実際にシド・ミードが描いていた時のように重ねることで、その精緻性、描画力、構図の妙が楽し芽ます。それぞれ単独でも、２枚重ねて飾ることも出来、このようなセットとなりました。 (限定３０部) 特にセル画には、構図の枠外に被るようにメモで描かれているのは、「歩くトラック」を最初から象をモチーフにしていたことが分かります。またポートフォリオのページ構成か、或いは、この「歩くトラック」の足底部が着地するメカニズムとも読み取れるスケッチが描かれています。この様子はポストカード Vol.2に含まれる「WALKING TRUCK」と同様です。 (限定100部) 本商品は、7/27(日)幕張メッセで開催された「ワンフェス2025夏」で唯一 「SYD MEAD LAB.」ブースで販売し、セル画になった下絵は世界初公開となりました。 （経緯） 1979年頃、スターウォーズ エピソードⅤ「帝国の逆襲」で、帝国軍の戦車を構想中のプロダクション・デザイナーであった（元ILMで現在は監督）ジョー・ジョンストンが「インスパイアされた」と告白したその元ネタがこの「WALKING TRUCK」であったことがディズニープラスでのドキュメンタリー「ライト＆マジック」で明らかになりました。 画集「SENTINEL」での掲載や「SENTINEL Ⅱ」でも再録されており、元々有名なアートでしたがその所在は不明のままでした。残念ながら原画そのものは当時の上司でプロデユーサーであったジョン・ラインハートの遺族が所有していることを突き止めてはいました。 2004年。パサデナ シティカレッジのギャラリーを拠点に、アーティスト・イン・レジデンスとして開催中であった「COOL BLUE DIMENSIONS」展の閉展後、シドミードのオフィシャルアーカイブの一部を整理するタイミングで付き添い、60年代と90年代のスケッチ画をシドミードと共に整理中の際、この「WALKING TRUCK」の小さな下絵に遭遇し、その頃から注目していたのがこの度、ようやく実現しました。元素材をカラコレをせず、ポートフォリオから忠実に再現。そこへ同じサイズで同じ構図に被さるように下絵をセルに転写し、画面の外にか描かれた象をイメージしたメモも含め、緻密に再現したのが今回のアーカイブプリントです。 ARCHIVAL PRINTとは： ・アーカイブに残る原画から高解像度で新たにデジタイズ。 ・マスキングテープやピン跡、張り付いていた筆の毛から鉛筆の跡まで微細に再現。 ・色味、彩度、サイズ、紙質を吟味し高品位に、公式のスタジオ監修による初の複製画。 ・原画を一切トリミングせず、イラストレーション・ボードのままのフル画面。 ・サイズ：B3 (515 mm x 364 mm) ・限定30部　増刷無し (御注意)： ※残数によって価格変動します。 ※正規代理店による限定販売のみ、Amazonなどで転売は出来ません。 ※転売を見つけ次第、その業者を掲示し、損害賠償請求を行います。 ※公式サイト（Syd Mead Store）での今後の販売なし。 ※著作権、知的財産権、 複製権によりこの商品画像、 及びコンテンツの転載/無断使用は厳禁。 以下に帰属します。 ©️SYD MEAD INC. & ®️WARTER SHOHTEN LLC. 2025 【シド・ミード社 / 魚太商店 LLC.】 *The 4th,5th and 6th images are just for reference only and are not included in this product. (Product Description) 　In 1969, U.S. Steel distributed this corporate brochure free of charge to anyone who sent in a postcard. INTERFACE (a portfolio of possibilities) contained three files, each with six different posters, for a total of 18 variable-size posters. This was the final illustration collection created by Syd Mead for the U.S. Steel series, completed in approximately one month. In 2019, for the Syd Mead exhibition, this [INTERFACE] was converted into postcards based on a private collection, with slight adjustments to saturation and contrast, and presented in a booklet format, as shown in the final image. 　Among the main theme of depicting vehicles active in localized environments, the “walking truck” titled “FEEDBACK” is a four-legged truck marching across a snowfield toward the Arctic Circle. This time, it was presented in a two-panel format for the first time. The completed illustration, along with the initial idea sketch and the colored trace drawing used in the creation process, have been reproduced on transparent cell film. By layering them as Sid Mead did when he actually drew them in 1969, one can appreciate the precision, drawing skill, and compositional ingenuity. Each can be displayed individually or layered together, forming this set. (Limited to 30 copies) (Background) 　Around 1979, Joe Johnston, a production designer who was working on the Imperial tanks for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (formerly at ILM and now a director), confessed that he was “inspired” by this “WALKING TRUCK,” which was revealed in the Disney+ documentary “Light & Magic.” The artwork was featured in the art book “SENTINEL” and reprinted in “SENTINEL II,” but its whereabouts remained unknown despite its fame. Unfortunately, it was discovered that the original artwork was owned by the family of John Reinhardt, who was the producer and supervisor at the time. After the closing of the “COOL BLUE DIMENSIONS” Exhibition (2002), by SYD MEAD which was held at the Pasadena City College Gallery as part of an Artist-In-Residence program, I accompanied Syd Mead during the assemble of his official archives. While organizing sketches from the 1960s and 1990s with Syd Mead, I came across this small sketch of “WALKING TRUCK,” and the project I had been eyeing since then finally came to fruition. The original material was reproduced faithfully from the U.S.Steel portfolio without color correction. The sketch was then transferred to a cell in the same size and composition, and the Archival Print was meticulously reproduced, including the notes depicting the elephant drawn outside the frame.
