Badge! A small, low-poly 256fes-style avatar with a ton of fun features: - 3 clothing swaps. - Hat and face mask accessories. - A bat to hit people with, that can be scaled really big for maximum comedy. - Headpat detection, which closes the eyes. - Global arm, leg, and body colliders so you can interact with other people's PhysBones and press contacts using almost your entire body. - Indefinitely stretchy hair and ears, and stealable glasses and name tag. - A variety of expressions across both hands, including a couple of two-handed gestures. Right controls positive while left controls negative expressions. - A simple hitbox system that allows avatars to react to collisions with body and weapon colliders. In Badge's case they flash and emit star particles. - The ability to puff into a cloud of smoke and become invisible. This is also toggleable to occur when someone pulls on the tail! - Custom GoGo Loco shortcuts in the base menu. - [PC] Dust particles that appear while walking, even when invisible. A cute little tell for when you're sneaking around! - [PC] Fancy AudioLink effects! Toggleable On or Off and to sync the colour theme with the world. - [PC] PSX toggle to become all wibbly-wobbly! - [PC] Using OVR Toolkit or WayVR, the name tag can display your headset's battery level around its edge! If your overlay is detected but hasn't sent a battery level yet, it will instead display a rotating blue dot. This avatar is also available on the VRChat Marketplace, where you can use the "Try On" button to test it out.
Performance Ranks
PC rank is Good: - Base Height: ~0.6m - Skinned Mesh Renderer: 1 - Mesh Renderer: 1 - Particle Systems: 4 - Material Slots: 6 - PhysBones: 32 Transforms, 5 Components - Contacts: 5 - Audio Sources: 3 Mobile rank is Poor or Medium depending on the prefab, with the following changes: - Audio Sources: 0 - Material Slots: 4 (Medium: 2) - Particle Systems: 2 (Medium: None) - Most toggles that are only visible on PC (e.g. the glasses) are disabled by default, but can be re-enabled if you wish for PC users to see them.
Setup
- Make sure you have VRCFury imported and that you're using at least VRChat SDK 3.10.3. - If you'd like to edit the materials, import the Poiyomi Toon Shader. Badge uses version 9.3. - Import the package for Badge. - Open the scene inside the "badge" directory. - Set up the avatar upload info in the VRChat SDK panel. - Upload! If all goes well you should see Badge in your avatars menu once it finishes.
Troubleshooting/Notes
There are a variety of settings under Toggles/Settings. Try changing those if needed. The battery indicator has very specific requirements to work; you need an overlay and runtime combination that supports passing the "hmdBattery" (0-1) parameter over OSC. Known to work with Quest/PICO headsets: - Steam Link, with OVR Toolkit (Windows) - ALVR on SteamVR, with OVR Toolkit (Windows) - WiVRn, with WayVR (Linux) The following DO NOT WORK: - Quest Link and Virtual Desktop - does not expose headset battery to SteamVR - XSOverlay - does not send a headset battery parameter Nightlight works differently if the world you are in has AudioLink, where it will instead make the reactive effects brighter. Disabling Badge's AudioLink toggle will make Nightlight function as it does in non-AudioLink worlds.
Terms
- Public uploads and edits are allowed. Be creative! - Porting the avatar to platforms other than VRChat is allowed. - Do not distribute the files to other people who don't own them. - If you want to release a custom outfit or face model, that's allowed. You may include the original armature and hand meshes but nothing more. - Do not use Badge in any form of mature/adult context. ...just use common sense, please. - For promotional usage or content where the Badge character is a central component, please contact me first.
Update information
Please delete and reimport files when updating! Otherwise, old files may mess things up. v1.2 - Small fixes and updates. - Updated nametag battery to work with OVR Toolkit and WayVR's new 0-1 parameter range. (you will need to reset your OSC config after updating) - Updated to VRCSDK 3.10.3, Poiyomi 9.3, and GoGoLoco 1.8.6. - Changed the badge representing Cubee Games to use the new icon. - Nametag no longer shows a purple bleed texture in the transparent area on opaque/mobile materials. - Adios now has a dedicated "mist" material. This is visible when the "action-merge" VRCF Full Controller component is removed, as is the case for the VRChat Marketplace version. v1.1 - Modernisation Time! - Reorganised files. - Updated PC materials to Poiyomi 9.2 (from 8.1!), supporting VRCLightVolumes. - Updated Mobile materials to Toon Standard, adding eye emissions, nightlight emissions, double-sided rendering, and an approximation of the damage effect. - New sound effects for the bat and hitbox. - Updated required packages: (SDK 3.8.1, Poiyomi 9.2) April 2025 - Update page texts. - Remove "as long as it's not easy to obtain assets from said platform" from terms. - Clarify "Hand meshes" in terms. Changes since the Public version: - Hat changes colour to match the chosen style -> Off-brand's hat is white, and Virus's hat is a deep blue. - Walking particles emit over distance instead of at a fixed rate. This means crawling should no longer stir up an unreasonable amount of dust. - The star particles are now solid blue, green, pink, or yellow instead of a random shade between pink and yellow. - Particles now use Poiyomi shaders on PC. - Mobile version can optionally have the Adios and Bat Hit particles, and the contacts for the bat. - Audio curve for the bat sound has been adjusted and it now uses AnimatorPlayAudio. - Does not include the AniSync menu. Update: SyncDances 3.1 is optimised now so just use that from now on. Old text: Once the full version of the AniSync patch is available, get SyncDances 2.0 and follow the AniSync patch's install instructions. - Removed the bat spinning sound. - Menu and assets reorganised, added menu icons. - No longer uses Easy Quest Switch to reduce dependencies: Android now uses its own animator and materials. - Added integration for OVR Toolkit's battery display. - Reduced clipping when the knees are bent and removed unused Hands of Holding submeshes. - Improved the shape of the hair fringe when wearing the hat. - Bat can now hit more than once every second.
