I learned of it from a ukiyo-e scholar who happened to be sitting with me as I looked through a book of prints left by my great-grandfather, who worked as a printer himself. Edo, Meiji, Taishō, Shōwa — the face of Tokyo has never stopped changing. From ukiyo-e to shin-hanga, artists, carvers and printers worked under a publisher to record Edo and Tokyo as the city kept changing. That line came to an end within the Shōwa era. Two eras have passed, and on a rainy night Ginza is brighter with light than ever. We want to carry that line into Reiwa, here in Tokyo, once more. Available for pre-order.
