# 《東京春夏秋冬―猫の雪よけ》 都鳥を始めた頃、師から「雨と雪と月夜の絵を作ってみるといい」と勧められました。 雨、雪、月夜は、浮世絵や新版画でも繰り返し描かれてきた情景です。 雨は第一作《雨の銀座》で形になりました。それから長い時間を経て、今回ようやく雪の作品が完成しました。 原画はチャイコフさんによるものです。越前奉書の自然な白を生かしながら、静かな雪景色の光と冷たい空気を表現しています。 雨に続く、雪の一作です。 ## 作品データ 238 × 357ミリ 越前奉書 水性顔料／手摺り 絵師：チャイコフ 摺り・製版：柏木隆志 本作にはエディション番号を設けていません。都鳥では、伝統的な木版画と同様に、一枚ずつ手で摺っています。 題名と絵師名は版木から摺り込み、都鳥の版元印は手押ししています。また、一枚ごとに絵師による鉛筆の直筆サインが入ります。 ## 絵師による作品コメント 都鳥が「東京春夏秋冬」と題して展開しているシリーズの一枚として、東京の冬の情緒を、ほんの少し幻想を込めて描いてみました。 冬の題材に選んだのは東京タワーです。幼い頃、週末を祖母と過ごした芝の家から眺めた東京タワーは、今も私の原風景のひとつとして心に残っています。 雪景色の中に映える朱色は、川瀬巴水が描いた芝増上寺の雪景色への、ささやかなオマージュです。 タワーの足元で身を丸める灰色の猫は、かつて共に暮らした愛猫です。その姿に、文明に守られて生きる私たちと、祖母に見守られていた幼い頃の自分自身を重ねています。 --- # Tokyo Through the Four Seasons — A Cat Sheltering from the Snow When I first began Miyakodori, my teacher suggested, “Try creating scenes of rain, snow, and moonlit nights.” Rain, snow, and moonlit nights are subjects that have appeared again and again throughout the history of ukiyo-e and shin-hanga. Rain took shape in our first work, *Rainy Ginza*. Many years later, we have finally completed a work devoted to snow. The original artwork is by Chaykov. The natural white of Echizen hōsho paper is left visible to express the quiet light of a snowy landscape and the chill of the winter air. A work of snow, following the rain. ## Print Details 238 × 357 mm Echizen hōsho paper Water-based pigments / Hand-printed Artist: Chaykov Printing & Blockmaking: Takashi Kashiwagi No edition number is assigned to this work. As in traditional Japanese woodblock printing, each sheet is printed individually by hand. The title and the artist’s name are printed from carved blocks, while the Miyakodori publisher’s seal is applied by hand. Each print also bears the artist’s handwritten signature in pencil. ## Artist’s Note I created this work as part of Miyakodori’s *Tokyo Through the Four Seasons* series, capturing the atmosphere of a Tokyo winter with a subtle touch of fantasy. For the winter subject, I chose Tokyo Tower. When I was a child, I spent my weekends at my grandmother’s home in Shiba, and the view of Tokyo Tower from there remains one of the enduring images of my childhood. The vermilion tower standing out against the snowy landscape is a small homage to Kawase Hasui’s depiction of Zōjōji Temple in the snow in Shiba. The gray cat curled up at the foot of the tower is a beloved cat I once lived with. In its figure, I also see ourselves sheltered by civilization, as well as my younger self being watched over by my grandmother.
