雨上がり / After the Rain 【アトリエ・セントーによる作品解説】 私たちは日本を旅するとき、よく妖怪のことを思い浮かべます。 誰にも見ることはできませんが、彼らは今も私たちの周りにいるのかもしれません。私たちが描きたいのは、目に見えるものと見えないものの境界にある、奇妙な世界です。鯉のぼりを初めて見たのは、新潟での長く厳しい冬が終わる頃でした。 信濃川に沿って、何十匹もの鯉が空に浮かんでいました。風を受け、水の中にいるように波打つその姿は、生きているかのようでした。鮮やかな色彩が、鯉たちに不思議な存在感を与えていました。 同じ頃、日本中では何千匹もの鯉が、誰を驚かせることもなく悠々と空を泳いでいました。 それは私たちにとって、本当に鮮烈な光景でした。 【作品データ】 イメージサイズ：260 × 185ミリ 紙サイズ：280 × 200ミリ 大判錦絵 越前生漉奉書 水性多色木版／手摺り 絵師：アトリエ・セントー アートディレクション：つちもちしんじ 彫り・摺り：柏木隆志 After the Rain Artist’s Note by Atelier Sento When we travel through Japan, we often find ourselves thinking about yōkai. No one can see them, yet perhaps they are still all around us. What we want to depict is a strange world that exists somewhere between the visible and the invisible. We first encountered koinobori—carp streamers—in Niigata, just as the long, harsh winter was coming to an end. Along the Shinano River, dozens of carp floated in the sky. Caught by the wind, they rippled and swayed as though swimming through water, almost as if they were alive. Their vivid colors gave them a mysterious presence. At that same time, thousands of carp were calmly swimming through the skies all across Japan, without surprising anyone at all. For us, it was an unforgettable sight.
